Dr. Ronald Rothenberg
As a pioneer in the field of preventive and regenerative medicine, Ronald Rothenberg, MD, was among the first group of physicians to be recognized for his expertise in this rapidly emerging field. The 10th MD in the world to become fully board certified in by the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, he founded California HealthSpan Institute in Encinitas, California, in 1998. Dr Rothenberg is dedicated to the belief that the process of physical aging can be slowed, stopped, or even reversed through existing medical andscientific interventions. In this way, health, fitness, and peak performance can be optimized. Dr Rothenberg has educated over 25 000 physicians who have attended his continuing education seminars. As the creator and director of the Postgraduate Institute for Primary and Emergency Physicians at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, he helped create the specialty of emergency medicine by training physicians as this field emerged. Over the past 10 years, he has lectured worldwide on preventive and regenerative medicine, hormone optimization, and stem cells. (Altern Ther Health Med. 2013;19(5):72-79.)
2017 Hormone Optimization
This presentation will review the syndromes of adult hormone deficiencies and present treatment strategies. The concept of optimizing quality of life by rectangularizing the HealthSpan cure will be displayed. The clinical nature of this specialty will be stressed with laboratory as a help to confirm diagnoses. Controversies will be addressed and current medical literature will be reviewed. The importance of hormone optimization vs. just being in the reference range will be stressed. Hormones to consider for optimization will include testosterone, estrogens, progesterone, thyroid, growth hormone, melatonin, DHEA, Cortisol and vitamin D. The connection between hormone optimization and telomeres and telomerase will be explored.
Telomeres and Telomerase
This presentation will review the exciting world of telomeres and telomerase and current scientific discoveries. The role of the telomere in protection of out DNA and as a biological clock will be demonstrated. Additional benefits of telomerase will be shown in protection of mitochondria. Lifestyle and telomeres will be reviewed and how optimal nutrition, exercise, meditation and hormone optimization help to slow telomere loss. The literature that implies short telomeres and increased cancer risks will be presented. Activation of telomerase with TA-65 will be presented and peer reviewed medical literature on the safety and effectiveness of TA-65 will be analyzed. Patient case reports will be presented and the importance of TA-65 in an anti-aging program will be stressed.
